Your regular dose of pseudosecularism

  1. Fifty people looking for solar image of Mary lose sight

More than fifty people who were looking for a church sponsored "miracle" lost their sight after staring at the sun. The owner of the "miracle" claims that idols of Mary in his house have been crying honey and bleeding oil and perfumes.
At least 50 people in Kottayam district have reportedly lost their vision after gazing at the sun looking for an image of Virgin Mary.

Though alarmed health authorities have installed a signboard to counter the rumour that a solar image of Virgin Mary appeared to the believers, curious onlookers, including foreign travellers, have been thronging the venue of the 'miracle'.
The actual brands of the perfume and honey leaked by the idol have not been determined.

  2. TR Baalu to go ahead with the science of Dravidian parties

TR Baalu of the hate group Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has asserted that he will go by the kind of science propagated by Dravidian Parties when it comes to taking a decision on the Sethusamudram Project.
The problem in this issue is to decide between faith and science, shipping minister T.R. Baalu says.
According to the leading intellectuals in the DMK, Ramar Pillai who managed to produce kerosene from kerosene is one of the greatest scientists of the twentieth century and deserves the Nobel Prize.

  3. Islamic cleric says Islam is Religion of Peace!

According to the Grand Mufti of Kashmir, Islam is a religion of peace.
"Islam holds everybody equal whether he is a Muslim, a Hindu, a Sikh, a Christian or anything else," he said.
According to the Mufti, terrorism was forbidden in Islam but Jehad was permitted!
"Terrorism is strongly prohibited in Islam. However, jehad, which is a genuine struggle, is allowed (but) only when Islam is under threat."

  4. A fool and his money . . .

Indian Communists fell prey to Nigerian 419ers who suckered them into parting with money. The Center for Trade Unions in India was so excited that they arranged for their leader to go to London and present a paper saying that global warming was the result of class war. The Communists handed over money to the 419ers to take care of travel arrangements for their leader.

  5. Life in socialist paradise

Reports of life in the socialist paradise of Cuba suggest that the Revolution is finally working! One has to toil for as little as two days to save enough money to buy a toothbrush.
One asked why a Cuban must work two or three days to buy a toothbrush.

Raul Castro has fomented debate on the state's shortcomings and what needs fixing since taking over as acting president when his brother fell ill in July 2006. He has raised hopes of modest economic reforms but will move slowly and also vows to continue communist rule.
