Your regular dose of pseudosecularism

  1. Communists oppose reservation for Muslims in Aligarh Muslim University

The Indian government's decision to earmark for Muslims, 50% of the seats in postgraduate courses in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), faces stiff opposition from the Communists.

AMU professor Irfan Habib said that this was ‘‘blatant communalism’’ and would change the ‘‘secular character of the university.’’
    ...
CPM leaders pointed out that they were no way going to support this form of blatant ‘‘communalism’’ and ‘‘minority appeasement.’’

Communist Party's propaganda organ, People's Democracy calls it "discrimination on religious grounds in its admissions."

We are truly grateful to them. Don't we all crave for a degree from the "reputed" Aligarh Muslim University? Perhaps a Master of Theology degree in Sunni studies?

A few months back, when the Andhra Pradesh government passed an order reserving 5% of seats in educational institutions and government jobs for Muslims, Frontline reported:

The Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Communist Party of India and the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) supported the measure.

  2. Massive aid for tsunami victims reaches people

Finance Minister P.Chidambaram who made the announcement about the reconstruction package of $756 million seems to be doing a terrific job of handing the money to the victims. One person received two rupees, while another victim got as much as forty-one rupees!
One woman received a cheque of just two rupees (less than five US cents) for damage to her coconut crops.
Pop quiz: Out of 756 million dollars, if seven hundred thousand people are paid a dollar each, how much money is left over and where does it go?

  3. Supreme Court says Marxists can rob Hindu temples

Robbing Hindus now has the sanction of the Supreme Court!
The bench clarified that “management of a temple primarily is a secular act” and, hence, “undisputedly, the state has the requisite jurisdiction to oversee administration of a temple”.
In his statement, "Justice" Sinha said that Muslims and other minorities should be allowed to determine the behavior of Hindus.
To insist on such a qualification in the electorate will be as bad as saying that when the law relating to a temple is under consideration in the legislature, only Hindu legislators can vote...
He also used derogatory language and called Hindu traditions as idol worship.
A Hindu admittedly may or may not be a person professing Hindu religion or a believer in temple worship. A Hindu has a right to choose his own method of worship. Idol worship, rituals and/or ceremonies may not be practised by a person although he may profess Hindu religion.

  4. The Hindu describes attack by Maoists as "daring"

The Hindu has described an attack by Maoists as a daring attack. According to the report, the "daring" attack involved blasting mines concealed in the stairs of a temple.
The gunning down of the two naxalites came within six hours after the Maoists made a daring but abortive attack on the life of the SP of Prakasam District by blasting claymore mines concealed in the stairs of a temple in Ongole town around noon.
    Very brave!

  5. We want your $$$, but we hate you!

    From International Herald Tribune:
The West Bengal chief minister, Mr Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, who had moved a resolution against Israel at the recent CPI(M) party congress and had called upon the Centre to suspend all its military links with that country, is at the same time negotiating with the Israelis for investments and funding of development projects in his state.
    ...
At the CPI(M) congress here earlier this month, chief minister Bhattacharjee had breathed fire in the anti-Israel resolution, which read: "We denounce the racist and colonial character of Zionism, Israel's state ideology...

  6. No veto power for Dhimmi states

Bad news for Islamofascists. The Dhimmi states of India and Germany are unlikely to be given the veto power even if the United Nations Security Council is expanded to accomodate them as two of the four new permanent members. The number of Dhimmi states that wield the veto power will thus remain at two (France and Britain). Apart from them, one permanent member of the Security Council (USA) arms the militant Islamic countries, while another (China) is their ally.
