- The Revolution has been interrupted!
The theory of Permanent Revolution took a blow when People's War Group - an organization listed as a terrorist organization by the US Department of State - put the Revolution on hold. It is widely speculated that the group is short of arms.
PWG leader and Revolutionary writer Varavara Rao contradicted the notion that Peoples War Group was banned because it was violent in nature. He claimed that it became violent because it was banned!
"Since there is a ban on these organisations and there is no grassroots level organisation to take up such issues, armed squads are going to the villages," he said.
He also railed against himself and took strong exception to his own earlier statements.
Varavara Rao, like many other rights activists, takes exception to the use of term People's War Group and says it is not a group but a political party - Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist (CPI-ML) People's War.
During an online chat on Rediff a few years ago, Varavara Rao had claimed, "In fact, it is the tribals under the leadership of the Peoples War Group who are fighting against the entry of MNCs into Bastar..."
- Theory of Spontaneous Combustion
The latest is that the carnage at Godhra was actually a case of spontaneous combustion! Says a report in Outlook -
What caused this fire is still a mystery. What is clear is that in all likelihood Muslim mobs outside Godhra station did not rush to the Sabarmati Express and torch it as the police chargesheet would have us believe.
Earlier, the media had claimed that it was a tea party gone wild. That claim was based on a chain-mail, which can still be found at the website of Indian Muslim Alert Network. Anil Soni, the reporter who is alleged to have witnessed the events has already refuted the allegations.
The London based newspaper, Independent was a major player in claiming that the contents of this chain-mail were true. An article by Peter Popham in which he used this chain-mail as its source, but claimed that they were witness accounts obtained by The Independent is still used by
extremist Muslims as propaganda.
- Schools to be used for harvesting souls
Maranatha Christian Journal reports that thousands of schools will be set up with the intention of sharing the life transforming message of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Missionaries are expected to have a free run in disseminating the life transforming message of the Lord Jesus Christ as Hindus in India face restrictions in opening or running educational institutions.
In May this year, the life transforming message of the Lord Jesus Christ drove a student to attempt suicide at Mysore. Mrs.Velangani, the Principal of KR Hospital Nurse Training College attempted to forcibly convert the students of the college and was suspended after angry students agitated against her. Mysore Medical College Bulletin, a blog about events at Mysore Medical College covers the case in detail. Be sure to check out the archives for news in the month of May.
- Communists keep promise to change history books
Congress Party is no longer responsible for the pogrom against Sikhs carried out in 1984! Soon after the Congress-Communist alliance took power, Frontline came out with the claim that the Sikhs were killed by Hindu nationalists!
Why then were Sikhs butchered? The only `cause' of the massacre was the attempt of Hindu nationalists (mainly `secular') to teach the Sikh community a political lesson - that it must submit to the political will of the majority, and they succeeded in their mission because of the blatantly partisan and communal role of the law-enforcement machinery, which functions as a subordinate body organised to provide the maximum political satisfaction to the "rulers".
That was quick!
- Manmohan Singh calls for forced labor, cooking books
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called for adoption of the Chinese model for India.
"We need to learn from the Chinese model of rural business hubs that add value to agricultural produce within the rural area."
China is known for using forced labor and cooking its books to make its economy look good. Good News India (bad news, pseudoseculars!) reports that China defines its poverty line at a per capita income of $76 per year while India conforms to the World Bank definition of $365 per year.
This is not the first time that Manmohan Singh has attempted to follow Chinese methods. While he was the Finance Minister in the Narasimha Rao Government, he was criticised for changing the definition of poverty and bringing down the percentage of those below the poverty line.
